Friendship Exchange

The Friendship Exchange Program allows Rotarians and their families the opportunity to experience another culture first hand in the homes of Rotarians. These Exchanges offer a life enriching experience: not only does the experience enrich and expand one's own horizon but offers an opportunity to make a personal contribution in advancing world understanding and peace.

There are two main types of Friendship Exchanges:

  1. the visitor exchange of a Rotarian and their partner with or without children--these visits are shorter, typically 3-7 days;
  2. and the team exchange of Rotarians or Rotary couples visiting in a host district for up to 1 month.

Participants pay for their airfare, sightseeing and personal expenses.  Although most housing and meals are hosted, participants may be asked to pay for some hotels and meals. The host plans all the activities.

The participants should be willing to reciprocate when the host families come into the district. If the hosted Rotarians are not able to accommodate the visitors, they should try help to find other Rotarians to help in the task of hosting.

Our District is open to considering Friendship Exchanges during the next year. If you are thinking of a foreign trip and would consider visiting Rotarians during your travels, and inviting them to visit you in your home at a convenient time, I hope that you will apply, so that we can make your trip into an "official" Rotary exchange experience. I guarantee that it will be an experience of a lifetime. Let me know of your interest.
